Katie Holmes Has Rare Outing with Daughter Suri Who She Raises without Tom Cruise

June 2024 · 4 minute read

Tom Cruise's ex-wife, Katie Holmes, is an exceedingly private individual. After her high-profile marriage to the "Top Gun" actor, she has been a rare sight in public. That said, she was recently seen walking down the street with her daughter.

Katie and her daughter, Suri Cruise, strutted down the street in thick, woolly clothes to ward off the cold night air. The mom wore a large woolen coat and slack, while Suri chose a puffy padded jacket with trainers and a pair of warm black pants.

Family members have reportedly urged Katie to encourage her ex-husband and daughter to reunite, but little has come of it.

The two seemed to be on their way to a local diner to grab a meal at a local Mexican restaurant together. The appearance came after Katie announced she would be returning to acting for the first time in years.

Where Is Suri's Dad Tom Cruise?

Following Tom's separation from Katie, the father's relationship with their daughter has been strained, to say the least. Although the "Jack Reacher" star is allowed to see his daughter a few days every month, he outright refuses to.

She focused on instilling Suri with good values and raising her as a selfless individual.

His reticence is sparked by his religious beliefs and his devotion to the Church of Scientology. After Katie decided to file for divorce in 2012 and got custody of Suri, and ever since his ex-wife and daughter left the church, Tom hasn't been seen spending time with his kid.

Family members have reportedly urged Katie to encourage her ex-husband and daughter to reunite, but little has come of it. A spokesperson for the Church of Scientology has denied claims by friends who left the church that Katie isn't allowed to visit them, saying it's simply untrue.

Nonetheless, Katie seems to be keeping to herself to avoid any possible conflict with her former spouse and the church. A source speculated that Katie leads a private life and avoids potential conflict based on advice from her attorney father.

How Does Katie Raise Her Daughter as a "Normal Teen"?

Katie's absence from films has also been due to her prioritizing Suri. She mentioned that nothing else in her life compares to raising her daughter and she only wants to provide her with a good life. She commented:

"My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now. It's very important that I'm present and she has a stable, innocent childhood."

She focused on instilling Suri with good values and raising her as a selfless individual. The actress spoke about her parenting philosophy and said they have spent a lot of time helping those less fortunate than themselves with "small acts of kindness."

Katie also said she hopes to raise a daughter that has a mind of her own and to nurture Suri's individuality. She's working hard to raise her daughter as a "normal" and an "unspoiled" child. A source said one example of this is Katie only flies on commercial airplanes.

Suri also spends a lot of time with her mom's relatives to give her family ties. Reportedly, she has a great relationship with her grandparents and other family members. Considering her dad's absence, Katie ensures she has a good family support system.
