"The Bachelor" star Colton Underwood is now happily engaged after a year-long love story with his current partner after going through a public breakup with his ex Cassie Randolph.

Over the last two years, former football player Colton Underwood's love life has made headlines for several reasons, starting with his relationship with "The Bachelor" contestant Cassie Randolph.

After breaking up during the show, Underwood and Randolph rekindled their relationship off-screen as Underwood moved to Los Angeles to be closer together. They agreed they did not want to rush into an engagement.

Their relationship seems to be going strong for over a year, with Underwood and Randolph sharing photos of each other online from PDA-filled vacations and different relationship milestones.

However, in May 2020, the pair revealed they had decided to break up via Instagram posts. Randolph wrote the two formed a strong bond because of their experiences together, and she would always be a part of his life:

"Colton and I have broken up, but have decided to remain a part of each others lives. With all that we have gone through, we have a special bond that will always be there."

Later, she took out a restrainment order on Underwood for stalking and harassment in September 2020. Underwood publicly apologized in November and said he believed Cassie filed the order in good faith.

At the end of 2020, Underwood came out to his parents as gay and the following year shared his sexuality on "Good Morning America." He then appeared in a Netflix documentary, "Coming Out Colton," which journeyed his coming out story.

Underwood later admitted he struggled mentally with his breakup from Randolph, and his difficulty accepting the split came from his fear of acknowledging that he is gay.

Underwood explained that while on "The Bachelor," he knew he was struggling with his sexuality, but he also fell in love with a woman, so it was a confusing time in his life. He shared he believed he could find someone who would make him straight:

"That led me to spiral after the breakup because I thought I'd found someone who could make me straight. And I didn't want to let it go."

Several months after coming out, Underwood started dating political strategist and Los Angeles resident Jordan C. Brown after photographers spotted them kissing and holding hands in Hawaii.

Brown and Underwood got serious about their relationship pretty quickly as they met each other's family several months into their relationship. Underwood revealed his parents accepted Brown and did not bat an eye when he brought him home.

Then in February 2022, Underwood and Brown announced their engagement news. Underwood gushed to People Magazine that he never thought starting 2022 with a best friend and fiance would have been impossible.

Underwood told People that he and Brown celebrated their significant relationship milestone with a weekend getaway, relaxing in nature and decompressing, at the Big Sur, after his birthday.
