Jordan Cashmyer went through a difficult period in her life following her time on "16 & Pregnant," including needing to sign temporary custody of her first daughter to the child's grandmother.

"16 & Pregnant" alum and mother of two Jordan Cashmyer passed away at 26 years old this month. Her parents confirmed the news in a heartbreaking post via Facebook on her father's profile.

The statement said Cashmyer's parents expressed that a parent should never go through the pain of losing a child. They are "truly broken," but their children, family members, and grandchild are helping through the difficult time with their love and support.

So far, there are no reports of a possible cause of death. Cashmyer's death comes four months after her fiance, Michael Schaffer, passed away. Schaffer was the father of Cashmyer's youngest daughter, Lyla.

Following Schaffer's death, a GoFundMe page was set up for Cashmyer and her daughter so Cashmyer would not need to worry about any potential financial burdens.

Cashmyer appeared on the MTV show "16 & Pregnant" in 2014 with her ex-boyfriend Derek Taylor. The former couple welcomed their daughter, Genevieve Taylor, during the show.

Audiences saw Cashmyer and Taylor dealing with homelessness as they awaited their daughter's birth, her family's disapproval of her relationship, and her family essentially disowning her.

Unfortunately, Cashmyer's troubles followed her after her run on the show. Taylor and Cashmyer separated, and the pair struggled to provide and care for their daughter.

Eventually, family members had to intervene, as Cahsmyer's parents allegedly shared guardship of Genevieve for some time. Later, Cashmyer temporarily signed her custody rights to Taylor's mother.

Cashmyer also struggled with mental health issues and substance abuse. In 2014, she attempted to take her own life. However, Cashmyer shared that she was "on medication and feeling great" following her hospitalization.

The former reality star later headed to a rehab facility for alcohol addiction. TMZ reported she went to rehab after her drinking got out of control, and she ended up giving herself a concussion and a black eye during a nasty fall.

It seems her drinking habits also affected her job ambitions, as the gossip news outlet reported her drinking habits had allegedly affected her job at a gym.

However, in the last year, Cashmyer had seemed to turn her life around as she celebrated being a year sober in January 2021, welcomed her second daughter, and was happy with Schaffer until his passing.
