Keith Urban recently opened up about one of his very first experiences regarding the music industry, a memory that he shared with his late father Bob Urban.

According to the country singer, his new autobiographical song, "Wild Hearts," was inspired by a moment that took place during a Johnny Cash concert when he was only 5 years old.

The lyrics that Keith sings on the track - "Saw the man in black, spotlight in the air, heard a thousand screams, saw my daddy stare" - reflect the instance where he was left wondering what was so special about Cash.

TRYING TO IMPRESS HIS FATHER

The 53-year-old recalled being at the concert with his father and seeing him just staring at Cash, as if he was fascinated, and wanted that special quality that Cash had. He said:

"Look I probably felt like I wasn't the type to get my dad's attention like that. How come? Like what's going on up there?"

Keith revealed he was exposed to music at a very young age and it was all thanks to his father. However, his mother, Marienne, was also heavily connected to his success.

The country star said she was the one responsible for him becoming the artist he is today since she used to drive him to every singing talent show around.

TOLD HE WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH

It has been reported that Keith started working on "Wild Hearts" during the COVID-19 pandemic, after failing to learn how to cook. He also recently shared a video of his 16-year-old self at a talent show.

He stepped on stage for the first time since February 2020.

In the clip, Keith can be seen performing live and then being told by a judge that he, as a solo performer, wasn't strong enough and that at his age one would be "keen on forming a group."

He captioned the video by saying that, sometimes, you just have to prove them wrong and that was exactly what he did since he is now one of the most famous names in the music industry.

BACK IN HIS ELEMENT

Keith, who has been married to Hollywood superstar Nicole Kidman for the past 15 years, stepped on stage for the first time since February 2020 at the ACM Party for a Cause concert.

The event took place in August, and before he even started singing, he dropped to his knees without a guitar and just tapped on his heart as the audience roared, welcoming him back to the spotlight.
