Cline Dion Thanks Fans for Support after Mom's Death & Urges Them to Support Children's Charity

This year, musician Céline Dion, 51, was dealt a hard blow when her mother, Thérèse Tanguay Dion passed away. This week, the singer took to social media to thank all those who’d shown their support and to make one request.

On Thursday, Dion penned a touching note of thanks to her fans to thank them for their support after her mother passed away. The post was written on behalf of the musician’s entire family.

The French-Canadian shared how deeply touched she and her family was for the show of sympathy. She further encouraged her fans to write a note on the Fondation Maman Dion website.

Dion asks for donations to needy kids

For those who wished to do more, she urged them to make a donation on the same website to help needy children. She explained how assisting the children would “help us to heal.”

The “It's All Coming Back to Me Now” singer shared her message in both English and French. A day after losing her mother, Dion went back on stage in Miami where she paid tribute at the American Airlines Arena.

Céline confirmed mom’s death

The star spoke candidly during her “Courage World Tour” in Florida about her late mother-of-14 confirming the news of her death. The “My Heart Will Go On” songstress then assured her fans that she was fine along with her family.

Dion’s mom had been sick

The singer explained how her mother had been sick for a while and that a nurse had called her family two days before the death to prepare them for the worst. Her whole family rushed to be by her bedside and had time to say goodbye before she died.

The musician also took the time to honor her mother in song. Dion’s mother was nicknamed “Maman Dion” and in her lifetime she had worked as a television host and was also a philanthropist.

The “Power of Love” singer lost her parent just two days after the fourth anniversary of the death of her husband, Rene Angelil. It also happened to be the same day as the fourth anniversary of her brother, Daniel's death.

Dion’s mother passed away at the age of 92 on January 16, 2020.
