Rita Moreno embodies the saying, "Ageing like fine wine." At 87, she looks radiant while making a rare appearance with her daughter, and she also sets a new record.
Award-winning actress and singer, Rita Moreno, 87, stepped out recently in a rare appearance to attend the Peabody Awards over the weekend; she was in the company of her grown-up daughter, Fernanda Luisa Gordon, 52.
At the Awards show, the singer/actress was given the "Peabody Lifetime Achievement Award." She shared a photo with her daughter on Instagram writing,
"Still on Cloud 9 from this weekend's #PeabodyAwards."
The Twitter account — @BFPerolike tweeted three images of Moreno collecting her award and noted she is the first Latina ever to achieve the "PEGOT" status.
What this means, is that the singer/actress has won the big five awards — a Peabody, two Emmys, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. She won the awards for the movies "West Side Story," "The Muppet Show," "The Rockford Files," and "The Electric Country Album."
While accepting her award, Moreno said she never expected to be a recipient and took a walk down memory lane. She recounted, moving to New York at the age of five from Puerto Rico with her mother.
The actress said her mother made her the costumes she used as an eight-year-old to perform at every bar mitzvahs and any party willing to hire a little child.

Moreno equally stated that she recognizes that Peabody places a high value on storytelling, and feels humbled that they consider her career and life story worthy.
The mother-of-one has had a long and fulfilling career in Hollywood, and recently, she starred in the "Netflix" show "One Day At A Time;" it got a Peabody nomination last year before it was canceled.
In an interview with "The Hollywood Reporter," the singer said she was disappointed when the show got canceled and would love it if the network released the rights so it can get picked up elsewhere.
In the meantime, she will be working alongside Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner in the remake of her Oscar-winning movie "West Side Story."
The singer told the news outlet that she was thrilled when Spielberg reached out to her, and the fact that they are taking out the racist element the original movie had, is the icing on the cake.
Moreno will also act in an executive producer role, and the movie will be out by the time she is 89; the actress hopes she'll be alive to see it.
