The 21-year-old Chase Goehring wowed the audience and "America's Got Talent" judges with an original song about an abusive relationship.

The song was dedicated to every girl who has been mistreated by a partner, and the message he conveyed is that there is always someone to reach out to.

The song addresses domestic abuse with cutting clarity and the audience when wild when the shy boy-next-door started singing.

Halfway through the pop song and romantic ballad, Goehring switched over the rap, much to the surprise of the audience.

He flawlessly switched back to the love song, and it earned him a standing ovation from the audience and the judges.

Goering hails from Nolensville in Tennessee, just a few miles from Nashville.

Even though he's performed in prominent sing-songwriter hubs like the Bluebird, he feels out of place in the country music environment.

In a recent interview, he described it as being like a "fish out of water" because his pop-rap songs are so different from what everyone else is doing in Nashville. ​

Apart from playing the guitar and writing his own songs, Goehring also plays the piano and the ukelele.

He is inspired by the works of Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz, Tori Kelly, and Eminem. He is also a fan of Jake Shimabukuro, who inspired him to play the ukelele.

Goehring showcases his songs on his YouTube channel and shares both covers from famous songs, as well as his own songs.

The 21-year-old has already been compared to his idols Mraz and Sheeran, and told AXS that it is a huge honor "because all of them are insanely talented."

He explained his songwriting process as well and said his songs are deeply personal to him. Goehring added:

"It’s a little bit different every time. Sometimes I’ll just have this chord progression that I stumble upon, and I’m like, 'Oh, I can write a song to this. This is a cool chord progression.'"

Since appearing on "AGT back in 2017, Goehring made it to the finale but did not receive enough votes to advance to the top 5.
